Vintage 1953 Gibson ES-295 Lifton Case Rockabilly Archtop Elvis Scotty Moore NR

What vintage Gibson model is rarer than a 1959 Les Paul Standard and perhaps more important to rock and roll history? The ES-295! Definitely one of our favorite vintage guitars and a beautiful 1953 example can be yours in this five-day auction...we've starting the bidding at just 99 cents with NO RESERVE! This one looks as good as it plays and nails that early rockabilly sound a la Scotty Moore. It includes the original Lifton case. It has no breaks or cracks anywhere...not even by the input jack. Just the standard finish checking and "greening" that occurs with gold paint. We love this one but it is not quite as clean as our typical inventory...we traded into it at a guitar show so we don't know much about its history, thus it is being sold as-is. The only issues appear to be some gold finish touch-ups on the bass side near the F-hole, non-original (but great-sounding) P-90s, and it was obviously set up like an ES-175 at one point (the Scotty Moore setup) with a rosewood bridge and trapeze tailpiece. It's back to the original configuration now. There are no structural issues but the archtop was reinforced with a dowel underneath to prevent caving-in, which was typical in these early 50s Gibsons. Everything else looks to be original, including the wiring harness, tuners, knobs, and of course the beautiful floral pickguard. The action is low and the neck angle is perfect. Plays great over the whole fretboard with only some minor buzzing up around the 14th fret on the 4th string...could be easily addressed by a tech. The tonal possibilities are endless. At full volume, you can get a deep, fat jazz timbre out of the neck pickup, a vintage T-Bone Walker blues quack out of both together, and a powerful and stinging Rockabilly treble sound out of the bridge pickup. This is a very versatile guitar and you will absolutely love it. Everything will be packed extremely well in a guitar box and insured in full. Flat rate will be $55 Fedex to the lower 48 states, and internationally we ship USPS Express International (or USPS Priority International depending on country restrictions) for $175. Canada, Alaska and Hawaii will be a $115 flat rate. Local pickup is great but California residents must add 10.25% state sales tax. International bidders -- before bidding, make sure the USPS size restrictions to your country have the 108 inches length plus girth maximum size limit -- we have blocked bidders from most countries we can't ship to but there are exceptions for additional fees -- for example we CAN ship to Australia but shipping costs will be $550+. We will ignore any questions regarding size restrictions for your country...you can easily find this info on the USPS site. Same goes for quotes...we charge a flat rate. If the actual international shipping price is less than $185 we always refund the difference. Please trust our 100% positive feedback, our long selling history on eBay, our unanimous 5/5 seller ratings, and our dedicated passion for great vintage guitars. We are happy to provide additional pictures and you can bet we'll answer all questions in a timely manner.
